Welcome to STN Video! This guide will help get you up and running with our video player on your site in just a few short steps. The STN Video Publisher Dashboard allows you to explore content, copy embed codes, and check your performance with our analytics tools
Login to the Publisher Dashboard
The STN Video team will collect a list of users and create their accounts. Each user will receive an email with instructions on how to set up their account. Once you're logged in you'll have access to the dashboard.
Browse Videos
On the browse videos screen you'll see the following information:
- Thumbnail – a preview of the video as a still frame
- Title – The headline of the Video
- Categories – Classification or genre of content
- Duration – Total length of the video
- Published – The date the video was added to the library
- Availability – What countries this content is available to
The browse videos screen is sorted chronologically, with the newest items appearing first.
Video Previews
Clicking on the thumbnail or title of a video previews the content. A popup displays the full video, title, category, and geographic availability.
You can view and save 3 different embed codes from the video preview screen:
- Embed - your standard HTML embed code consisting of a <div> and <script> tags
- oEmbed - an oEmbed code for use where oEmbed is supported
- WordPress Shortcode - a WordPress shortcode specifically for the WordPress CMS
Filtering Videos
By default the library shows videos from all tags and categories, but if you’d like to narrow down what videos are displayed, there are several different filtering options to choose from.
Date Range
You can filter video content based on the date it was added to the library within a specified range. By default, the page will display all videos available in the library.
Tags
You can filter video content by the tags assigned in the video metadata. This is particularly useful for narrowing down videos by a specific topic or source. You can choose to display videos with one or multiple tags, or exclude videos by tags. By default the library will show videos from all tags.
Navigating the Video Library
The page browser on the top right shows how many videos are available in the library with each page being limited to 50 videos. In addition, you can navigate from page to page by clicking on the arrows.
If you’re looking for the newest of new content you can manually refresh the library using the refresh button to refresh the library and display any new videos since you first opened the page.
You can also switch views from a list to a gallery view by selecting the appropriate icon. By default the library will open in list view.
Searching the Library
You can enter search terms in the search bar to look for specific videos. The search bar will check your query against terms in the video title and video description.
Embedding a Video
Once you’ve found a video you want to embed on your site, it’s time to grab an embed code.
To find an embed code for a given video, you can quickly copy the HTML embed code by using the embed <> icon.
Additionally, oEmbed & Shortcode options require the STN plugin be installed.
oEmbed Only (Legacy) plugin - https://wordpress.org/plugins/sendtonews-oembed/
Official (New) plugin - Not on wp.org. Requires C_ID+Authcode from STN admin.stnvideo.com company edit.

Once you’ve added the embed code to your site the player will appear automatically and no further action is required on your part.
